As leader of a multi-disciplined design and engineering team, this role involves the continuous improvement and evolution of our world leading products through leading-edge mechanical design.
By working closely with our key customers and our own engineering division, the Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and delivery of bespoke leading edge solutions
Your assignment
• Overall responsibility for Mechanical and technical design of the Company’s bespoke scientific equipment.
• Implementing best practice with respect to design and development
• Growing and mentoring an industry leading design and development team, including day to day team management and mentoring
• Leading engineering development and design projects.
• Direct interaction with key customers for the purpose of participating in project discovery and design phases
Primary Task List
1. Developing a thorough understanding of the company’s products, processes and technology
2. Generating concept models, designs and PD5500 based calculations for bespoke solutions
3. Delivery of Design solutions fit for engineering, in agreed timescales
4. Managing and growing the design team , their tools and methodology
Secondary Task List
1. Liaising closely with the engineering teams to ensure designs can be engineered efficiently
2. Onward development and support of existing installed products
Your profile
• Strong leadership skills and real experience in building effective teams
• Industry leading design skills with hands on experience of leading design tools (3D CAD) and techniques
• Experience in vacuum systems, pressure systems, gas systems, electrical / electronics, control systems and building services interface an advantage.
• Experience in material science or physics would be beneficial.
• Engineering degree in a mechanical discipline or equivalent qualification/experience
• Professional registration with a relevant Engineering body encouraged and preferred.
• Microsoft office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• UK security clearance an advantage.
